License / Activation Terms
Last Updated: [date you publish this]
These terms explain exactly how your RestroPod license works — what it allows, what it doesn't, and what happens if something changes.
1. What Your License Covers
Your RestroPod license is tied to one restaurant account and one master device at a time — not to a person, and not to unlimited devices.
When you activate RestroPod on a Windows PC or Android device, that device becomes registered to your license. The number of devices you're allowed depends on your subscription plan.
2. The One-License-One-Device Rule
By default, a license allows one master (host) device. If you try to activate a second device while one is already active, activation will be blocked, and you'll be asked to remove the existing device from your dashboard first.
This exists to stop a single license being shared across multiple restaurants or unrelated devices. If we detect a device fingerprint being reused on a different restaurant account, it will be automatically flagged and may be blocked.
If your plan allows more than one device, that limit is enforced in the same way — you cannot exceed it, and the system will tell you clearly when you've reached it.
3. What "Activation" Actually Does
When you activate a device, RestroPod:
- Generates a unique fingerprint for that device (from hardware details on Windows, or a system-level ID on Android)
- Registers this fingerprint against your license
- Issues a secure access token so that device can talk to our servers going forward
- Sends you an email confirming a new device was registered — so you know if a device you didn't authorize gets added
4. Moving to a New Device
If you get a new computer, or your old device is lost, stolen, or damaged, you can transfer your license:
- Remove the old device from your dashboard
- Activate RestroPod on the new device using the same license key
If you can't access your dashboard (for example, your only device is lost), contact support and we'll help you regain access.
5. Recovery Phrase and Device Transfer
Your local restaurant data is protected by a recovery phrase, generated the first time you activate. If you move to a new device and want to bring your existing data with you (not start fresh), you'll need this phrase — you can view it from your dashboard at any time, using your account password.
If you activate a brand-new device without restoring old data, it starts with a fresh, empty database.
6. What Can Cause Your License to Stop Working
Your license may be revoked or suspended if:
- Your subscription payment fails or lapses (after a grace period — see our Refund & Cancellation Policy for details)
- We detect tampering — for example, a device clock being deliberately changed to bypass an expiry check, or a request that fails our security signature check
- We detect fraudulent use — like the same device fingerprint being used across multiple restaurant accounts
- You request a refund on your subscription (your license is revoked as part of processing that refund)
If your license is revoked for a reason you believe is a mistake, contact support.
7. Software Updates
From time to time, we release updates to RestroPod. Some updates may be marked as mandatory — for example, if they fix a security issue. If an update is mandatory, your app may prompt you to update before you can continue using it.
8. This License Is Not a Sale
Activating RestroPod gives you a license to use the software under these terms — it does not mean you own the software itself. The software, its code, and its design remain the property of Aditya Joshi / RestroPod. You may not copy, reverse-engineer, resell, or redistribute the RestroPod software without permission.
9. Governing Law
This document is governed by the laws of India. Any disputes will be handled in the courts of Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
